ON THE PORCH
** “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust’.” Psalm 91:1-2

We lost our bulldog a few mornings ago. After looking for a bit, we realized Chewy had buried herself under the most comfortable blankets in the house, in our cozy old man chair.
While we were hunting and searching, she knew right where she was and was not worried at all. She was snuggled in, taking a nap, without a care in the world.
I felt God nudge me to look at this situation from a different angle.
God wants to be my refuge.
**“Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, for in you my soul takes refuge; in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge, till the storms of destruction pass by.” Psalm 57:1
God wishes to give me rest.
**“For you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy.” Psalm 63:7
And God desires to renew my mind, body, and Spirit.
**But those who wait upon God get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles, They run and don’t get tired, they walk and don’t lag behind. Isaiah 40:31
So, may Chewy be my teacher today. May I trust and allow God to have His way with me…
LORD, as I bring You my anxious heart and anxious thoughts today, I ask that You take them and remind me that You, LORD, have already given me a solution. Help me be more intentional about seeking refuge in Your presence and resting. And as I rest, renew everything inside me…my heart, my soul, and my mind. When I sneak out from under Your refuge and try to do things my own way, remind me that You are the best and only way to truly find lasting peace. May I always feel Your presence and comfort, LORD. In Your precious name, Amen.
